What Can You Expect At NDW?

Nashville Dog Walkers consists of a team of full-time and part-time dog walkers and pet sitters, a lead walker, an assistant manager, and a branch manager.

Our full-time walkers can expect anywhere from 30 - 40 hours/week, and part time walker hours will flex with their availability, but average anywhere from 5 - 25 hours/week. Our management team handles all scheduling, billing, and client support so our walking team can focus on what they do best... caring for the pets! Our dog walkers handle one household of dogs at a time, no pack walks, so that we can ensure each pet receives our full and undivided attention.

To excel at this position, prior professional pet care experience is not required, but being a genuine animal lover is! Besides a genuine passion for animals, the biggest qualification we look for is consistency and reliability. Being able to depend on and fully trust our team of dog walkers and pet sitters is a MUST in this line of work, because the pets are relying on us to be there for them. Walkers should be confident in working independently, but also capable of working as a team to solve challenges when needed. Having strong problem-solving skills and working well under pressure is a must! Professional animal experience is not required, but having a passion for pets IS a requirement! We are partial to those who are self-driven team players with positive and can-do attitudes. Lastly, all Nashville Dog Walkers employees must have a reliable and insured vehicle, a valid Driver’s License, and be able to pass a criminal background check.

In addition to a competitive hourly pay, our employees receive mileage reimbursement, a phone usage stipend, and have the opportunity to earn tips. All employees receive PTO from day one and are eligible for group pet insurance. All full-time employees are also eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance. We at times have growth opportunities arise for our walkers, and always prefer to hire and promote from within.

Before starting solo visits, each employee will complete orientation with our branch manager, online training, and in-person training. Online training consists of completion of our NDW Pet Pro training course, learning about pet behavior and body language, how to utilize the Precise Pet Care app, how to manage the schedule, and much more. New employees will also complete at least 2 days of in-person training, shadowing our lead walker and observing what a day in the life of a dog walker is really like! Once training is complete, it’s official, you’re part of the NDW Team!
